Robin Orvis Photography offers custom portraiture for today's family. I specialize in newborns, children and families. I don't photograph weddings or special events... ever.

I like to spend time with my subjects, get to know them and capture their spirit. As an artist I view the world a bit differently than most. I like to be patient and see what happens. I never rush or push. Great portraits are worth the wait!

For children, a photo session should be one big play date. We play. Sometimes we cry. We tell silly jokes. We have a snack. We get to know each other. And we take lots of pictures. So grab a cup of coffee and a good book, find a comfortable place and sit back and relax. Your work is done. Your children and I will create great images like those in the "Look at Me Mom!" gallery.

Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first two weeks of life. Anything later and we lose that squishy baby look. Take a look at the "I'm Here!" gallery for some real heartbreakers.

Is your baby no longer a baby but not grown up yet? Check out my "I'm Too Cool" gallery for those rollercoaster tween/teen years. I love this age where children switch back and forth from child to adult in the blink of an eye.

If you're interested in a family portrait and want very traditional, posed pictures, I'm probably not the photographer for you. Check out my "Keeping it Real" gallery. My family style speaks for itself.

I photograph using natural light and studio lights. I shoot indoors and outdoors. I especially love photo sessions in client's homes. Everyone is relaxed, real and honest... what a portrait should be. And, no, you don't need to worry about your house not being big enough or decorated like a magazine. Clients are amazed at the way I photograph in and around their homes. I find beautiful light in places they never thought about.

Allow plenty of time for a photo session. Most children and family sessions take 60-90 minutes. Newborn sessions take 3-4 hours.

Proofs are ready for viewing approximately 3 weeks after your photo session. I offer on-line proofing and in-person in-home proofing appointments, whichever is best for you.
